Inverters are nice to have at times when you are dry camping and/or when you don't have access to 120-volts AC. Batteries produce power in Direct Current (DC) that run at low voltages. Power companies and AC generators produce sine wave Alternating Current (AC), which is used to operate 120-volt appliances and electronic equipment. An inverter takes 12-volt DC power from your RV batteries and electronically changes it to 120-volt AC. Some RVers use an inverter just to watch TV or for their personal computer.

Other RVers use an inverter to operate microwaves, coffee pots or other larger appliances. When you purchase an inverter the inverter's output capacity must be capable of operating the loads that will be placed on it. Inverters have two different capacity ratings. Continuous output rating and surge capacity rating. Continuous output is the maximum wattage the inverter can output for a long time period. Surge capacity is the maximum wattage the inverter can output during initial start up. All appliances require more power when they start, compared to what they use when they are running.

They can use as much as two or three times the amount to start then what they use to run, so the starting power required for any appliance that you plan to use with the inverter must be within the surge capacity rating. There are modified sign wave inverters and true sine wave inverters. A true sine wave inverter is more expensive, but they are capable of producing power as good as the Power Company and all appliances and electronic equipment will run as they are intended to. Keep in mind you are drawing the power from your RV batteries and any power used has to be put back in through some type of effective charging system.
Attention Deficit Disorder is a chronic neurological disorder, which is predominantly diagnosed in children. Statistics estimates that 2-5 % of the population is affected by ADD, considering the rare possibility for cases of Adult ADD. ADD is one of the disturbing pediatric disorders in the United States, since 5 million are affected by this disorder. Attention deficit disorder is the old name of the disease with characteristic symptoms of hyperactivity, inattention and impulsivity, which is later renamed as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (AD HD). The disorder is classified into three distinct subtypes, ADHD predominantly combined type, ADHD predominantly inattentive type and ADHD predominantly hyperactive-impulsive type, on the basis of the pronounced characteristic symptom.

Children with ADD show distractibility, forgetfulness, impulse control, and disorganization. It is often misdiagnosed as any learning disability disease, however, pervasive symptoms for six months must be suspected. Diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders describe particular symptoms for the children belonging to each type of ADD. The inattentive type shows the symptom such as careless mistakes due to inattention, trouble in playing games that require concentration, failure to follow instructions, avoiding school projects and seminars, forgetfulness, distractibility and recurring losses. The hyperactivity-impulsive type shows symptoms such as restlessness, difficulty in staying seated, wanting to run and climb all the time, answering before a question has been completed, and excessive speech. The combined type will exhibit both types of symptoms.

Usually, children with ADD will have certain learning disabilities, anxiety, depression, low thyroid, and tendency to violate rules and regulations. It is quite interesting that the features of gifted children are often misinterpreted as symptoms of ADD. In adults, ADD is characteristic with symptoms such as low esteem, procrastination, boredom, anxiety, depression, mood swings, relationship problems, forgetfulness, restlessness, sleep problems, and addiction.

Treatments for ADD are not effective to provide a complete cure, to date, since the exact cause of the disease is not identified. The only known fact is that the disease is brought on because of some sort of neurological problem. It is suspected that impairment to the neurotransmitters can be the possible cause. Physicians prescribe several medications, which help the ADD patients to control their symptoms effectively. The simulative medications include methylphenidate, dextroamphetamine, and benzphetamine. The brand names such as Ritalin and Adderall are some of the widely accepted drugs for ADD treatment. The psychotherapies such as behavioral therapy, cognitive therapy, relaxation therapy and neurofeedback are suggested to improve the social behavior of ADD patients. In addition, nutritional supplements such as zinc, amino acids, and fatty acids such as Omega 3, are recommended to enhance the condition of ADD patients.

Snoring is an involuntary act of producing sound while sleeping, which can even disturb the domestic harmony. Snoring is a common phenomenon that is experienced by more than 50 % of adult and in addition to the serious disturbance for the bed mate, snoring can also cause serious medical complications such as sleep apnea, which result obstruction to breathing while sleeping. Sleep apnea enhances the risk of life threatening disorders such as hypertension, stroke and cardiac arrest in adults, whereas in children, it may lead to attention deficit disorder.

Snoring is actually the sound resulted by the vibration of the soft palate and uvula, while the breathing through mouth. Depending on the specialties of the mouth anatomy, the flapping sound may differ, and as a result snoring sound ranges from feeble soft sounds to deep unpleasant roaring sound. Mouth breathing, instead of nasal breathing, due to any nasal obstruction, is the primary reason for snoring. The blockages in mouth such as thick palate, throat tissue, tongue falling to mouth, mis-positioned jaw, and allergies can result snoring. The lifestyle disorders such as alcohol addition and obesity also increases the chances for snoring. The structural significances such as deformities, long palate and uvula, large tonsils and adenoids, enhance the sound of snoring.

Snoring can be considerably decreased by practicing certain self help treatments. Primarily, try to sleep on your side rather than on your back, since sleeping on your back induces mouth breathing. Use a pillow to raise the head and keep a pillow on your side, to remain the sleeping position on side. Avoid alcohol and other sleep disturbing addictions to impart a good sleep. Practice ideal sleep hygiene habits for a comfortable sleep. It is very interesting that around 300 different snoring controlling devices are patented although most of the oral and mandible devices are focused to induce nasal breathing and to thereby control snoring.

In cases of serious snoring problem, the consultation of a physician must not be delayed, as it leads to life threatening issues. The otolaryngologist will undertake a detailed check up of all the participating organs in the process such as nose, mouth, throat, palate, neck and ear, to find out the exact underling cause for snoring. The treatment will be finalized according to the reason found in the diagnosis. Surgery is recommended in case of structural deformities and obstructions in air passages. The new treatment strategies to control snoring include Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty, Genioglossus Tongue Advancement Surgery, Thermal Ablation Palatoplasty and its latest advancements such as Laser Assisted Uvula Palatoplasty. Continuous positive airway pressure is another effective method, which is a mask that regulates the free passage of air, without snoring.
